One at a time please
Thijs van Leer [Focus]
Originally Thijs guested on a couple of songs at a gig and ended up booting the 'copy-Thijs' out and become, a reformed, Focus proper

Not quite the same thing... but after leaving The Byrds, Gene Clark stumbled upon The Rose Garden playing Byrds covers in a club and didn't need much encouragement to jump on stage and sing with them. He ended up giving them a couple of songs for their debut (only) LP.

For old geezers you're morphing too fast. Was still thinking about the Tull albums:
Passion Play
War Child
Stand Up
This Was
Aqualung
A Little Light Music
Songs from the Wood
Thick as a Brick
Living in the Past
TOTRNRTYTD
I've ever listened to 11 of their albums. The only one not in the list is Minstrel which is as bad as TOTRNRTYTD but has a nicer album cover.
A Little Light Music is a little live album recorded (mainly, I think) in Israel. I really like it because the performance is really relaxed and, well, light.

Keep up Muddy - the request was for top 10
studio albums....!
Living in the Past doesn't count either as one side is live
5/17ths [29% to two significant figures] of
A Little Light Music was recorded in Israel
I saw them on that tour (of course) - they were magnificent
Dave Mattacks' simple but effective tubs help give the overall 'light' sound.
Nice. Very nice

I didn't know that Mike Nesmith's mum invented liquid paper (tippex) in 1956.
According to Huw everybody in the world, including their dog, knew that...
Is young Slim correct...?

Her invention, bought by Gillette, was marketed as Liquid Paper. Wite Out is a knockoff.

I kinda like the Grateful Dead but Jesus H Christ I want to hear exactly none of them. Every one, a potential disaster. Seriously, what an unmitigated nightmare.
For once, I agree with this guy.

Technically Frank Zappa played with his tribute orchestra because he conducted the Ensemble Modern in Frankfurt.
Don't think many composers have done that.

Brian Wilson scarfed up most of The Wondermints for his touring band after hearing them play some of his songs live. In fact the first time I ever heard of them was when I saw a small item in Rolling Stone (I think it was), maybe in their "Random Notes" section, about Brian being at their show, with a picture of them together backstage. Brian was quoted as saying something like "If I ever do Smile live, these are the guys I wanna do it with!" I for one took that comment with a HUMONGOUS grain of salt at the time.

But the live side is dreadful!
Whatever we’re they thinking!

I just skip the live stuff.
Can't decide what my next thread should be. I was thinking of Tull or Zappa.
You should definitely do Tull!

Good call on Brian & The Wondermints, Charlie. I saw them live in Amsterdam in 2004, I think. Fantastic. I think that was their first tour, so before SMILE.
