A Broadway giant, I can't say I like many of the songs he wrote for his own musicals, Send in the clowns probably being the one I like the most.
But he did write the maginificent lyrics for West Side Story, and that would have been enough to cement his place anyway.

I like the melody of Send in the Clowns a lot, lyrics less so. West Side Story though, is all great.
