Elvis Presley - The Top Ten Hits

Postby GoogaMooga » 18 Nov 2021, 07:17

Elvis Presley - The Top Ten Hits, is a 2 CD fatboy commemorative issue from 1987, to mark the 10th anniversary of the passing of the King of Rock'n'Roll. It is the first major Elvis retrospective on CD from RCA, and the only set to gather all 38 top ten hits that Elvis enjoyed during his career. It's even been remastered, if you can call it that, for the sound is anemic and tinny. So what to do? It's not valuable, Discogs has it for a few bob. I suppose it's nice to own, since it lists the chart placings of all 38 hits. But there are no liner notes to speak of, and the whole thing reeks of the shoddy treatment that RCA afforded those early Elvis CDs. It was not really before Ernst Mikael Jørgensen and Roger Semon took over, that we started to get good-sounding Elvis CDs. They ought to redo this one.

Keep the back insert or take a photo, if you want to keep that info to hand. Chuck the rest away.
Bugger off.

Good point there. It is not really a keeper in any way.

I would've sent it back as faulty, given that it has more than 10 songs on it.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.
