Major Lance vs. Crash Test Dummies

Postby GoogaMooga » 27 Oct 2021, 12:38

Major Lance and Crash Test Dummies, active decades apart in different genres. Both had a big hit with a monosyllabic chorus, one hummed with thrust and the other more flowing and lazy.

Major Lance: "Um Um Um Um Um Um"

Crash Test Dummies: "Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm"

I'm trying to conjure a circumstance in which I would vote for the Crash Test Dummies. There may be one, but not here.

Never heard Major but wins here easily. I do admit when CTD came out with that song I liked it. Although got old real quick.

I couldn't think of any more hits with monosyllabic choruses. Definitely a sub-subgenre.

Does "Land of 1,000 Dances" count? (Nah na na na nah...)
