Queen - "You're My Best Friend"

Postby GoogaMooga » 14 Sep 2021, 17:55

Queen's "You're My Best Friend" is one of only two songs by them that I like. While "Under Pressure" has been easy to find isolated on CD, I had only ever seen "You're My Best Friend" on Queen comps. Now I have discovered that it appears on a VA OST of an old 90s film, "Peter's Friends", so I don't have to own a whole Queen album.

I love the Wurlitzer piano at the start. It’s all done hill from there though.
I've been talking about writing a book - 25 years of TEFL - for a few years now. I've got it in me.

I always liked it (and its parent album A Night At The Opera).

Always thought "Under Pressure" was a bit of a mess, though.

This is a fantastic Greatest Hits set. It cuts off at exactly the right place.

Well, yes. If you like Queen, it is perfect.

Under Pressure has Bowie and some interesting production. The melody is slight, though.

Peter's Friends is the quintessential showcase for up and coming British talent of its time, and the epitome of smug.

The soundtrack's not bad though.

Oh, I wouldn't bother with the film itself. There are many such cases where I just enjoy the soundtrack and ignore the film.

Agree about the first but the second Greatest Hits is pretty good too.

If you find it in a thrift shop it might be worth 50 cents of your money. I suspect it's very dated but it's pleasant enough and has some good moments.
