Singer-songwriter is pretty music, very pleasant on the ears and even thought-provoking, but rarely swinging, dancey, funky, or groovy. I've got Don McLean spinning now, the digisleeve remaster of "American Pie", with restored artwork, better sound, and two bonus tracks.

First of all, the slow build-up to THAT song. Why not just kick off immediately, it is what we are waiting for. This is more salon music than concert hall music.

I went to see him with band at a small venue. The full set centered around THAT song and Vincent, and was a polite affair that never really took off.

Joni, Carole and Laura tick all the boxes. The rest are boring old farts....apart from Melanie, who is just appalling

Pretty much, but they can have a band. Like Albert Hammond, who borders on pop.
