Warwick Avenue

Here's a Danish band based around Warwick Avenue in London, and they call themselves "Warwick Avenue", of all things. They signed with Columbia in 2005, put out one fantastic album, and were never heard from again. I have gone out on a limb before hyping Danish bands - well, here's one that I personally feel can hold its own among the best of the new century. When you are good enough to get your debut out on Columbia, you've got the stuff. Their sole album is a solid 10 tracker, mixing indie with easy listening. It's a rich tapestry of sound - beautiful harmonies, arrangements, melodies, and hooks galore. They are a bit like Starsailor, only with all good songs. So they sank without a trace, it's happened before that quality does not always rise to the top of the charts. They should have been huge, now they are a best kept secret.
