Bob Dylan's 'Shadow Kingdom' (the old art renewed for 2021)

Postby Your Friendly Neighbourhood Postman » 21 Jul 2021, 10:28

To my great and pleasant surprise, Dylan and a band streamed a performance of c. 50 minutes (set in sort of a 'tavern') of old songs of his, this in new arrangements. The review I read is in Dutch, and it is full of enthusiasm; especially all the careful attention to detail, and the smart hints at the times we now live in, are emphasized.

Here's the review: https://www.volkskrant.nl/cultuur-media ... ~b8a44894/

If anyone knows of a description in English, please let us know.

And I keep fingers crossed that a CD/LP/DVD-release will see the light of day shortly.
On the whole, I'd rather be in Wallenpaupack.

Dear TWFNO -

Thanks so much for your reply: it's pretty much all that I'd hoped for, and this comment is well in tune with what the Dutch reviewer (reknowned Gijsbert Kamer from one of our quality papers) wrote!

Upshot: I want to see and hear it!
On the whole, I'd rather be in Wallenpaupack.

New "bootleg” album, too!

Bob Dylan’s “Bootleg Series” of archival releases recently passed its 20th anniversary without any set yet dedicated solely to his work in the 1980s. The first half of that decade gets its due, finally, with the upcoming release of a 5-CD set that collects outtakes, alternate versions and live or rehearsal tracks from the eras of his “Infidels,” “Empire Burlesque” and “Shot of Love” albums. Titled “Springtime in New York: The Bootleg Series, Vol. 16 (1980-1985)” — and complete with classic unbuttoned-shirt imagery from the era — it’s due out Sept. 17.
Things that a fella can't forget...

Cheers, Muskrat! Great news. If that 'Shadow Kingdom' performance will see the light of day too, it'll be an ace Dylan year after all.

I'll be getting the full 5-cd version, that's for sure.
