Never heard of him - but Miles Davis and Dexter Gordon used him, so he must be top-notch.

Miles' Aura album is a suite composed by Mikkelborg as a tribute to Miles, the album was the last released in Davis' lifetime, was produced by Mikkelborg and is a gem.

Ah. I do love Aura, I was not aware (or had forgotten) the provenance.

Thanks.

Yes, thanks JJ

I got because I love Jack DeJohnette, but everyone is stellar and the whole thing is awesome.

Nearly nominated that one when I decided to propose a Rypdal album - that, the eponymous & After the Rain.

This one is very like the Vitous/DeJohnette album. They could be two halves of a double album, really.

A lot of ECM albums have excellent percussitivity, adding fantastic little droplets of colour.

Terje Rypdal (Norwegian) - guitar, composer
Palle Mikkelborg (Danish) - trumpet, flugelhorn, keyboards
Jon Christensen (Norwegian) - drums, percussion.

All three are Scandinavian, this is very much a Scandinavian 'jazz' album.

And with a raspberry infused tea. Not sure of the correct adjective to sum it up, it's too clear to be mellow. Relaxing is somewhat apt, but doesn't hint at the interest.

Almost Ambient?
