I bought a double of Barry White and I am keeping it

Postby GoogaMooga » 07 May 2021, 08:07

Yeah, man, I mean it, man! I don't really have the space, but he is just so goddamn great, that I have decided to keep my duplicate. A lovely sounding Mercury CD, not brickwalled at all. From his peak period, 1975. I'll never forget the time I saw him on his last tour, VIP seat in Globen, Stockholm. I had a nosebleed balcony seat for the warm-up EW&F, but snuck down to the ground floor during the intermission and found myself a VIP seat for the great man. When an artist is as great as Barry White, it makes sense to keep duplicates of his work.

You obviously lead a sad, lonely life.

Bullies always do

You haven't even got the guts to allow 'private messages'

I pity you lad

You seem very unhappy! There's no need for pity, I can assure you. I'm doing very well.

What did you want to tell me in the PM?

He won't allow PMs or anyone who doesn't meet his standards to visit his fiefdom, yet he relishes his freedom to come here under the guise of one of his many pseudonyms and stink up the place.

He likes a rigged deck...

As a come-back newbee, a has-been or a whatchamacallit I don't know about the Artgar thing, except that it sounds like something out of a bad Viking movie. But brother Slightbreeze had me in stitches. Thank you for that. Made my finally relax on a very hectic Friday (3 hours bumper-to-bumper at NRG stadium downtown Houston to get my daughter her 2nd Pfizer shot). Since we're on yaketeyak: Barry White's music has never been my cup of tea but I can understand when people like his music. It's smooth, relaxing and undoubtedly sexy. Roughly one-third of the babies born between 74 and 78 were conceived while their parents were making pelvic motions to It's Ecstasy When You Lay Down Next to Me. It's a corny old joke but I still kind of like it: Was Cilla black? Was Barry white? Was Marvin gay? It doesn't really matter - it's just that Stevie wonders.

He's scampered back to his grovel with his scrawny bully-boy tail between his bully-boy legs to lick his rancid wounds.

Good riddance

I do that sort of thing occasionally, if the artist is exceptionally good. As it takes me years to cycle through the randomly archived collection, having doubles means I come across a favorite artist a lot sooner. Obviously, it has to be within reason, no use having hundreds or thousands of doubles. I've even had triples, Lorraine Ellison for example.
