As I've just mentioned Boards Of Canada I reckon this is the right place to mention that they are the perfect accompanyment for any global disaster, espeially New Seeds...

Obviously quite a lot C. considering the massive success and huge popularity ELP attained prior to the advent of punk. ;)

Alright, in no particular order -

NRBQ
Burt Bacharach
Beatles (& solo)
Alex Chilton
JJ Cale
Velvet underground (+ Lou & Cale)
dEUS
Charles Douglas
Bob Dylan
Mauro Pawlowski

Captain Beefheart
Flamin' groovies
Grateful dead
Guided by voices
Curtis Mayfield
Jeffrey Lewis
Jim O'Rourke
Pavement (& solo)
Sonic Youth (& solo)
Motorpsycho

Dan Penn / Spooner Oldham
Elvis Presley
Prince
Greg Cartwright
Jonathan Richman
Ty Segall
Ween
Neil Young
Marcos Valle
[Lô Borges] Bobbie Gentry

I'm appalled at the lack of women artists among my top favorites, that's not cool. Room for improvement.

I like your list Brother, but I'm sure it will be way different tomorrow. As would be mine!
Nice you mention Jim O'Rourke. I own a couple of his CD's. I don't have them with me unfortunately. They're in COVID storage in The Netherlands which is a compliment to the artist because only 10% of my collection is there. Isn't one of his in pink and has a drawn baby one it or is this my imagination? Anyway, that album that I (possibly mis-)describe is seminal and deserve more recognition. And if I'd make 10 more lists Jonathan Richman would appear in 2 or 3.
There's a big difference between kneeling down and bending over

Emerson cited weak vocals as one of the reasons he left the band.

True, Jackson is an "acquired" taste, but Emerson's new vocalist, Greg Lake, is adequate at best...as with all the Crimson vocalists.

Nonsense, Lake and Wetton are great vocalists.

Peter Hammill is an acquired taste.

I can't deny it, but that's true for a lot of the people on my list. I like it when artists are like that. :)
And I love some of the really bad stuff!
