How do you find the time to explore all this stuff?

I'm just catching up on the past few months, I'll slow down soon enough. :)

Two bands that came up in the late '90s and early '00s. Both went on a lengthy hiatus, but are doing good work again. Stylistically in line with their earlier work.

The notwist - Vertigo days
Glitchy melancholica. It takes time to reveal itself, but I'm really growing into it.

Godspeed you! black emperor - G_d's pee at state's end
The title might suggest they've found a sense of humour, but not really. :) Glacial postrock with majestic peaks. You know what they sound like. Nice, but not very surprising.

I can't follow at all. :D

I only 'know' some of the artists by name. None by music.

And I don't want to waste my time on spotify and youtube.

A physical cd still means something to me but I wouldn't know where to start with new bands.

I have a broad taste but don't like that wishy washy electronica stuff.

So? Pieter?

P.S. looks like the only 2021 disc I have bought so far was the aforementioned Israel Nash (and about 50 oldies). The Coral's new one will be next.

I do waste a lot of time on bandcamp and youtube, it's true. There's so much music out there, reviewers don't have a clue anymore, and everything is niche, so there's no other way than to sift through it yourself. I discard a lot before I find something I like, but maybe someone else would discard my choices and pick something else. I totally get people not wanting to put the time in.
But I like it. :)

Would you like me to make you a cd-r with some of my favorites from the last couple of years? I'd be happy to. But maybe that doesn't help.

That would be very nice. Who knows what I might find?

By the way, I have one more 2021 album.

Introducing...Aaron Frazier.

Drummer of Durant Jones & the Indications.

Decent blue eyed soul but the falsetto voice gets weary.

Yeah, I agree. Nice single, but the album wore me down. I let that one go again.
Good single though:

I really enjoy the Cassandra Jenkins album on the other hand, 'An overview on phenomenal nature'.
Just 30 minutes and it's all one mood, a long stream of consciousness murmur, drifting on guitars and flutes and strings. It's low key, but with so much detail. I'd never heard of her before, don't know if it's a debut album or not. It speaks to me.

I would be remiss not to mention the latest single by my musical idol Mauro Pawlowski. A Belpop ballad, announcing what must be his 100th or so album by now. I can't wait.

Cory Hanson of Wand made a pretty solo album, 'Pale horse rider'. Lots of acoustic guitars, slide, pianos, country and folk tropes, altered states, decaying grandeur.

This has cute sounding kids on it so it may not appeal to some people, but I think it's absolutely lovely. It cheers me up every time I listen to it.
I haven't heard anything else from the album but I'm about to listen to it now. I shall report back...

I think I know what you mean. I love the new Dinosaur jr record, and I enjoy all the albums released in their second wind. It feels comfortable growing old with a band who are still creatively a going concern instead of just touring the hits.

Now that I've spent some time with the new Dinosaur jr record, I absolutely agree. I love it. They should do this forever.

Off topic, but I made this for Yves, 2 discs of favourites from 2016-20, and I turned it into two YouTube playlists as well:
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLANS9EbVwvZUecUgDtI2BbZK28D4e7hrP
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLANS9EbVwvZUHW0c_fwBBxtaLSFPEAI1K

I had to narrow it down in all sorts of ways.
These are songs from favourite albums - not favourite singles or stray songs.
I tried to avoid 'legacy' artists. I may feel Thurston Moore and Stephen Malkmus and Dinosaur jr are making some of their best music, but you probably know what to expect, and you've made up your mind about them - but they really are... :)
So this is one way to look at the last couple of years.

Much against my own advice I took a sneak peak on youtube. :D

That Karl Blau covers cd is one of my favourite things from the past years! What a voice.

Prass, Power, Segall I have also.

Yeah, it's amazing. I saw him play that live in the cellar of the Botanique for a tiny audience. A great show.
