Excellent, although he seems to have swallowed the keyboard sound from Peter Gabriel II throughout.

I like it too. I don't think it's anything unexpected - he's got his style down, but really good songs and nice arrangements.

Loving the keyboards on this, that moment on the opener when it plays from keyboard to trumpet and back again is gorgeous...

Pino Palladino / Blake Mills - Notes with attachments
This on the other hand, I've been trying to hear the point of this music, but it sounds like a waste of time. Not for me.

I can't find the record anywhere. Sold out wherever I go, it seems. It must be doing well.

Finally found it. I wasn't a big fan of her earlier work, I have to admit, which sounded a bit cold and artificial to me, but this one I like a lot. Wonderful songs.

And at the close of the day, a wonderful instrumental marimba album.

I can really space out to this one.

Robbie McIntosh and Martin Ditcham, two of the regulars on the last two Talk Talk-albums reincarnate a similar sound on Held By Trees...one single on Bandcamp so far...

Excellent new (debut) album from Illuminae, formed by Ian Jones (Karnataka) with Polish singer Agnieszka Swita. The ubiquitous Steve Hackett and Craig Blundell are amongst the contributors.

This was great. I watched it when they released it and, what can I say? It's my shit. I should probably go back and catch up with Ty Segall, but it's a daunting task.

I'd say, start with Freedom's Goblin, and take it from there. That record is like a compilation of most of his styles, packed together. Then branch out to just about anywhere, it's a ton of fun.

Two great new albums:

Reigning Sound are back with 'A little more time', kind of a reunion of the original band-record. And boy, what songs.

Faye Webster - I know I'm funny haha

Also the title track:

Both in my top 10 of the year so far.

I've loved everything she has done but agree this might be her best.

Was a bit disappointed with the new Black Keys-album

Every track sounds the same. Every track is at the same pace. I know they're all covers of blues numbers and very worthy too, bit the album is plain BORING

Tracks from this keep popping up on my Spotify feeds and it's really grown on me. I was never keen on his voice but I even quite like that now.

There's also a piece Townshend plays on Bargain that sounds just like the keyboard sounds on this.

Still think it's great though...

Great song, which is the opening track of

Turner Cody & the soldiers of love - Friends in high places
Turner Cody started out on the early '00s New York anti-folk scene, but is now more or less a Midwestern country singer with some great lyrics.
And his band is from Brussels, which only adds to the slightly surreal setting.

Rosie Tucker - Sucker supreme
Not the typical record you'd expect on Epitaph records. Retro '90s indie rock - which is, of course, the absolute best thing to be in this day and age. I've seen it described as a coming of age record, and that sounds about right (not that I remember much myself).
It's meant to be awkward and wry, and not perfect at all, and I like it a lot.
