New album out since.. a little while. It was even produced by Don Was.

And he's been silent for three years.

He's burned, isn't he?

He was just an nme darling during a particularly barren spell in music.

Wrong. His only fault was putting out too many records in too short a time.

That is an exceedingly generous assessment of Ryan Adams's faults.

Heartbreaker, Gold and Ashes & Fire are his best albums, for me. I'm a fan but not a huge one. Haven't heard anything by him since 1989 (the album :-)). From what I've read he's bit of a nutcase and not a very pleasant person. Wasn't he accused of sexual misconduct a few years ago?

Wrong, his fault was his shit was taken seriously and he believed the hype.
It's all there for anyone to listen too . It's really not very good.
I bet Googs sees his stuff on a daily basis.

I think you are right. Typical that his personality strikes a chord more than his music.

It isn't , googs regularly visits thrift shops where this kind of shit is stacked to the rafters. You are very sensitive these days. I thought you just had the worst music taste in Europe but you are tetchy twat as well.

Not a stab but a reference to Googa mooga's daily scouring of the bargain bins Yves.

I think he's certainly capable of flashes of greatness. I saw Whiskeytown as they were starting to gather some steam in the press and they were not very good at all, but I can easily imagine they could be great if you saw them on the right night. I lost a taste for him after that and never really followed up, but I'm sure there's enough there for a very strong compilation. Maybe I'll get around to listening through all the stuff and separating the wheat from the chaff one of these days.

That fella Jimboo sure gets in a helluva bad mood after a few drops of whisky.

I'm a bit surprised there's so little love for Ryan's music. Heartbreaker is a very good album and the track To Be Young is a classic. It features greats like David Rawlings, Gillian Welch and even the Queen of Country: Emmylou Harris. Maybe it's all a bit too country for all you Status Quo fans.

I agree. He has written more good songs than many people who try. If one doesn’t like his style of music that is fine but to put people down for their taste of music is ill mannered.
