Dr. Lonnie Smith and Iggy Pop doing Sunshine Superman
For the record I don't hate but I think it's crap. I'm no expert in jazz but this sounds like something out of Jazz Club on the Fast Show. One soft jazz cliché after another. That bit at 4:09 when a guitar starts noodling and someone in the background says, 'Yeah.'
Oh dear.
And Iggy's vocal. What was he thinking? He sounds like he's reading lyrics he's never seen before.
But...
But....
I quite like it.
Is this good or is it really terrible?

I would rephrase the question:
Is it to my liking or not....?
Who am I to say any music is 'terrible' Tym

I'd say it's terrible. But then, I'm comfortable that I have that authority
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

As I've said elsewhere, the music track is pretty groovy.
But the only reason this is getting so much attention is the novelty of Iggy Sings Donovan.
And Iggy can't really sing anymore.

If you can claim that something is robust you can aver that another thing is unrobust.

Sorry for being so coy - it was actually at "the other board."

The music part needs more grease imo, the vocals are horrible. As you say, what was Iggy thinking? Is the great American songbook next?

As opposed to earlier in his career when he was compared to a young Pavarotti

He was certainly a pretty exciting rock & roll singer once upon a time. I could even dig some of his crooning, to a modest degree. But it's over, I think.

I think it's just a fine little tune. Not too good, not too terrible. Just nice.

Well, what about this then?
He sounds a bit like Leonard Cohen did on his last album.
And again, I like it.
What's wrong with me?

This is really funny! Well, I hope it's meant to be funny.
Excellent persiflage of Serge Gainsbourg & Jane Birkin.
Thanks for sharing. I needed a good laugh.
