Pylon Box
Pylon were an Athens, Georgia post-punk band from '79 - '83 with a very high quality control rate for their 45s and two albums. There was a reunion LP some years later but I've never heard it. As for what's in the box - all 45s (which really come down to the excellent, initial "Cool/Dub" and "Crazy" singles) and the Gyrate and Chomp albums. Think an American Gang of Four sans sharp edges (whom they toured with extensively) without the politics. A huge book detailing everything you wanna know with tons of pictures is included. Those who were there will tell ya that these guys were better than The B-52s or REM. Not sure about that, but it's worth noting.

Yeah, I'm sure Rolling Stone has had Pylon on their cover numerous times, John. Great point you just made.

Where would rock 'n' roll be without feedback?

Re: NOW PLAYING.
Earlier in the week, I was playing some George Jones and Tammy Wynette records from the 70s that were new to me. Yesterday, I played through the first four or so Johnny Paycheck records from the seventies. They were ok, but no revelations, alas.
JUSTIN TREVINO Travelin' Singin' Man
Trevino drills down into the Texas dancehall country sound I love (Ray Price shuffles, essentially), and he nails it. But his singing voice is a tad "clean" for me, which is weird, because the format is suited to a fair amount of crooning (Faron Young, Ray Price).

Cycling through the MASSIVE ATTACK discography yesterday and today. I think it’s finally time for these records in my life.
