It's just economics. He explained that a US tour like he was doing (5 musicians, 4 roadies/technicians in a rented tour bus is costing about $15K per day. Pre-pandemic it was about $10K. Of course a European tour would be a lot more expensive, and with Zappa fans on the decline for obvious reasons, it's hard to fill out venues. It's only doable if he were to charge a Oasis-type amount for a ticket. Most pensionados can't afford that.

I read Moon's book. I think it's safe to say that Frank and Gail were never ever going to win the Parents of the Year award.
