Once I realized I had left off such a key track I prepared myself to defend some of the tracks I took instead.
on further reflection, pretty pointless right? I guess I'm the only guy who took "Monkey in your Soul" but it's hard to get very defensive about it.
I love it. it sounds to me like Walt & Don were listening to "Aftermath" even if they weren't!

the one I was steeling myself to defend was "Everything must Go". thanks to neige I did NOT stand alone holding my candle for that one. in point of fact, I'm delighted to see many of the "reunion" era tracks represented.

So, where do I get off leaving off a great track like AJA and including the last song from their last studio album?
I make no excuses. I think it's fan-fucking tastic.

It's high time for a walk on the real side. Let's admit the bastards beat us
I move to dissolve the corporation In a pool of margaritas

it works as social commentary but it could be about the end of a relationship. it could be about the end of Steely Dan. it could be about the end of Western Culture! I think they left things in very interesting place.

if somewhere on the way we got a few good licks in - no one's ever gonna know
'cause we're goin' out of business - everything must go!

Its a great album all the way through Godwhacker, Pixeleen and The Last Mall.
I struggle to name a track in their whole oeuvre that I dislike.

it took me a while to warm to "Gaucho" but warm I did.
I took to both of the later ones pretty quick. I guess "Gaucho" got my mind right.
another later track I really like that hasn't been singled out yet (unless I missed it) is "Lunch with Gina"

Ultimately, that's what it boils down to (including the two reunion albums) - strangely I don't feel the same way about either's solo efforts. :geek:

I would have liked to vote for 'IGY', and i really like The Nightfly, but i still couldn't squeeze something else out of my 20.

I voted for every track off CTE, and i regret it not one bit. What an album; one of the very best of the 70s, even if F and B have always looked back on it with mixed emotons.

There's an amusing recent facebook post in 'Now Playing' where Del Frost shits all over Aja, which he's just heard for the first time.

Takes all types I guess.

I’m surprised Hey Nineteen rates so highly on so many lists. A decent single but real average from a long list of more interesting tunes imho.
