Re: REAP CORNER
Afraid I lost interest after Dark Side. Ummagumma? Live side is good. Nuff said.

Re: REAP CORNER
This year I have been listening to early Yes, and scored a copy of the debut album from Flash, featuring Banks and fellow Yes man Tony Kaye. I have also been playing his first solo album Two Sides of Peter Banks, which never seemed as good as I wanted it to be given the prog illuminaries involved (Banks, Jan Akkerman, John Wetton, Phil Collins, etc)
From there to Empire, the project that occupied the remainder of Banks's 1970s. Three albums that remained unreleased at the time, for some reason. Finally, on to his later solo output. Used to have these on CD, but sold them for eye-watering prices to a collector.
Hope he was happy.

Re: REAP CORNER
I've no problem at all with Banks when a member of Yes, but solo and with Flash.... it's just so AVERAGE

Sheesh, tough crowd! They were brilliant up through The Wall, and still pretty good for the rest of their career.
Keep this up and I'll have to start a thread...
You know you want to Matt.

I would like to differ but I can't.
I run through his post-Yes career about once every ten years, am glad I did, and manage to resist the urge to play it again or acquire any more until the fancy takes me again.
Scheduled for 2032 at present.

Eventually, sure. Zappa for now, and maybe I'll finish up the Crimson thread with the post-Thrak albums.

Brilliant album by the Heads, my favourite by them and again, another band who brought something different to the table.
Prompted by Yomp's post elsewhere. I like Budgie well enough but not enough to play them regularly.

A tremendously robust album from a great band

Goodness knows what the thought processes were behind this cover picture - it's pretty bad, like the music though.

A very good album
I recall it being "too robust" for Johnny Slider when I burnt him a copy about 15 years ago....!

On a a bit of a Doors kick at present, no-one else really sounded like them did they? Some tried later on but no-one was as good.

One of my all-time favorite bands. I unreservedly love all of the LPs, though acknowledge that The Soft Parade is the least of them.

3 sides for me, but think that "Revealing science..." is as good as ANYTHING they recorded

I bought it as soon as it was released and it took me quite a while to get to like it. It was different from what had immediately preceded it by some way, no really immediately catchy hooks and nothing for the casual listener to grab on to. In my mind this was their attempt at a serious piece of music that required you to listen to it and not just put it on, well at least that what it feels like to me, others may feel it was sheer indulgence. It's not my favourite Yes album but certainly not one I would want to be without.
