Well, actually your mum is perfectly entitled to complain in this instance. If only because Reverend Greg has been dead for at least three years.

This just in from Bono...

"what's-his-name was an incredible influence on U2. The Edge especially, is devasted. We will dedicate our new album in his honour as well as play a song or two by him on our new tour. By the way, in case you haven't heard, our new album has a back to basics, punk rock sound. You see, the Edge was angry at me for hanging out with politicans and stuff and it shows in his guitar playing, It's out in a couple of week and I'm sure we'll reclaim our position as the number one rock band but anyway, enough about us, what's-his-name was a rocker, a Rasta man, a lover man, etc...".

this is terrible news. RIP reverend greg.

:(

one of the greats.

That's why I'm somewhat surprised Sweet Bird Of Truth's mum wasn't aware of the shocking (yet somewhat dated) news.
He'll be missed, that's for sure. The "Revolver" trubute album done him proud though, don't you think?

I think I"m remembering, I just had a dream about Whats-his-name dying but two nights ago. Well, it wasn't about him dying specifically, but in this dream I was shopping, but then the place turned into this larger thing, felt like a synagogue. But I'm looking at clothes and I find this kitschy Whats-his-name t-shirt, except theres been sleeves attatched to it made of woven licorice whips. A hummingbird came down from a higher point in the synagogue/store and took a strand of the licorice. Then another appeared and did the same. A flock arrived in turn taking strands as I held the garment until it was denuded of licorice. At that point the image on the shirt had altered and was barely readable. I took the shirt to the manager, incidated it was damaged and inquired as to a discount. I paid with my Old Navy charge card. If that's not a dream about death I don't know what is.

It really surprises me that no one even thought to mention his sad widow, What's-her-name !

The lady, who married What's-his-name in 1979, said she didn't want her old partner to be buried god-knows-where. From the latest news, it seems that the body of What's-his-name will be buried in the garden of the old house where he lived a very secret life for most of the last twenty years. The house, which many described as "lost in the middle of nowhere", will not be open to the press. As a matter of fact, What's-her-name even said that she wouldn't accept anyone in their house. She even said that "You-know-who" would be well inspired if he didn't show up at the burial. Many things have been said and written about the strange relationship that the What's-their-name couple had with You-know-who, but who knows what really happened ?

Sam, you've not heard? Mystic Meg, as she hadn't predicted, died yesterday!

He says he knew you - before he died.

He couldn't know you after he died, could he?

But only Jethro and Muskrat do that anyway

Here's a recent one from Muskrat :

"C.P. Spencer dies at 65, was tenor for the Originals

By Susan Whitall / The Detroit News

C.P. Spencer, whose soaring tenor voice led the hit song
"Baby I'm For Real," by Motown group the Originals, died
Wednesday of a heart attack. The Oak Park resident was 65."

OK, it's sad when anyone dies (apart from Phil Collins) but did the mighty C.P. Spencer really merit an RIP thread ??

The thread received absolutely no replies.

With all respect for Mr. Spencer, sometimes I post RIPs because of the story, not necessarily the "importance" of the person who passed. As many people here are interested in r&b and soul, I felt that the obit of Spencer -- which probably won't make the front page of the Times -- might have been interesting to some. Others are welcome to ignore it, of course. And not every post demands response.

Now let's return to the really interesting threads that characterize BCB.

Further breaking news:

What's-his-name's last album, "Title To Be Advised" has been confirmed as being one of the top 10 albums in the Q magazine end-of-the-year top 100, depsite their review earlier in the year stating it was "Awful, just bloody awful! How can anyone release something as tuneless as this collection and get away with it? A waste of whatever material CDs are made of. I want my money back even though I got it for free."

Oasis, Paul McCartney, Westlife and Paul Weller have also signed up for the tribute album.

A four-part documentary, presented by Stuart Maconie and thrown together this afternoon, will be airing on 6Music later in the year.
