Is this pub rocker worth investigating?
I'll probably get his two-on-one Legend albums and Juppanese.
Good? Anything else?

Re: Mickey Jupp
I've heard him Yves, but I only have his 'Juppanese' album, mainly to keep the 'Be Stiff Route '78 Tour' album set complete.
I can't say I've been inclined to search out any more of his work.

He's a legend of the Southend Pub Rock scene, although he predates Dr Feelgood and Eddie and The Hotrods. I have to admit that I've not heard any of his albums.

I've heard of him and I've seen him live with Legend during the mid/late 70s at Southend Cliff's Pavilion - with the likes of other local boys like Dr Feelgood.
I haven't written anything because I found what I heard pretty mediocre so I have never really pursued
My loss I am sure.
As The Slider would say, too robust for me

Most UK posters on here will have heard of him and will remember him from his time at Stiff records.
"Juppanese" was one of those albums that you always saw when you were record shopping but never considered buying.
He was only in his mid 30's but to an 18 year old me he appeared a bit past it and his records didn't sound very interesting.
The legendary Southend rock and roller line was pushed hard at the time and you would occasionally hear him on John Peel or a Kid Jensen type radio show. In the years that followed, my music obsession continued to grow and I noticed Jupp's name through his many song writing credits.
As an ancient 60 year old now I may hear his records differently.
What do folk think his best recordings are?

Giving 'Juppanese' a play now.
I think you might be able to tell what it sounds like from the line up:
Side 1
Dave Edmunds - Guitar
Billy Bremner - Guitar
Nick Lowe - Bass
Terry Williams - Drums
(Producer - Nick Lowe)
Side 2
Chris Spedding - Guitar
Dave Mattacks - Drums
Gary Brooker - Piano/Organ
Bruce Lynch - Bass
(Producer - Gary Brooker)

Spot on.
Saw him on the Be Stiff Route '78 tour, he was underwhelming.
