Doctor Jimmy!
I’ll take on everyone!

That rape line has always been hard to listen to.

How many discs?

The original U.S. cd put 1&2 on first disc and 3&4 on number two and they were separate cd covers and not a clamshell.

As LMG (I think) said, there are many different versions! I think they even did deluxe 2-disc editions more than once.

This particular one is from 2011, and is two discs - the break is between "Drowned" and "Bell Boy," then the rest of disc 2 is fleshed out with demos. (I may be misremembering, but I can swear there's a two disc version released in the US many years ago that has the whole album but instead of fleshing it out with demos, does it with a Mod playlist (by other artists).

Ditto.

In 1978 I was sent to boarding school, and went 'home' to stay with my grandma in Brighton. This was already my favourite album, I remember getting the train from Victoria to Brighton for the first time...

Inneresting. I assumed the reason they split the album during side three was due to extra tracks. Well that and the Deluxe labe was a dead give away.

What I can't stand is casual rape in '70s films. Or especially when the director has the woman seem to enjoy it.

You are thinking of the movie soundtrack - it has a remixed version of part of the album (they weren't allowed to use the whole thing for copyright), plus newly completed songs from the album (outtakes), and songs used in the movie.

Not to be an apologist, but here I think all the sexual bravado is just that - empty threats from a frustrated teenager wracked by unrequited love/lust.

These are meant to be thoughts of the guy who only comes out when he drinks his gin.

Or even how many women you talk to today who have been abused in some way by men - sexual or physically.

Hell, there's two rape scenes in Once Upon a Time in America!

Of course, don't mean to derail the thread. But the casual way he brings it up in the lyrics is not something you'd see today.
