Re: NOW PLAYING.
Since last week my 9 year old has become a Van Halen head (learning 'Ain't Talkin' About Love' on his fixed-tail Squire Strat -more ammo for him needing a wang-bar and to cover it in paint). Anyway, down the Rabbit Hole we go for other guitarists that are like Ed, I mention Jan Akkerman and Hocus Pocus. And we fire up this (on LP naturally) in 'Music Club'
Hocus Pocus->leClochard->Janis & Focus II are top notch (never could get to grips with moving waves something my grandad would listen to). This Eruption is way too long for a 9 year olds attention but he gets the gist. Since then I've been hooked by this album, so I made a quick vinyl to USB dump and its been on solid work rotation since.
As an aside, we were digging round Y-T to investigate the yodeling - I happened upon this performance where they apparently decided to cram 6:43 into a 4 minute slot - how fabulously deranged is this ? To think that this went out on national TV in the early 70's, amazing. Y-T comments, toxic though they usually are - really are worth a read on this occasion.
I think Akkerman invented Eddie Van Halen in the first 90 seconds of this performance.

Finally tackling Jimbo's coronavirus thread?
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

I can do it, but only for a significant fee!
Still listening to this, for what it’s worth

Absolute anti music. They really are the wet leaf of a spring forest. Steely Dan outtakes even they found boring.

Actually fulfills the promise of goofy fun the album cover implicitly makes.

Lou Donaldson Takes Off! (Blue Note) Classic Records stereo reissued lp
A classic hard bop alumb on the classic hard bop label. Curtis Fuller is the secret sauce.

Wow, haven’t thought about that one in a long time despite the virus.
Might have to pop it in the machine after I come down off some hard bop jazz albums.
