I came to this band and this album slowly.
I disliked their Peel sessions when they were broadcast. Which is a pity, because it means I turned a chance to see a Buzzcocks/Joy DIvision show for £3.50 in 1979.
Wise move, no? Never regretted that particular decision...

This transports me instantly to Thursday nights (club night) at Eric's, a stalwart of my student days.

Re: Lockdown Listen: Joy Division, Tuesday 22nd Sept @ 9pm [UK]
Then during my University year off, 1980, I was in the USA were JD were unknown at that time. Some friends from Britain came to stay a month after Ian Curtis died, and were full of how his band, death, and second album/single were the greatest thing ever heard (without bringing me copies, of course).
I was sceptical.
