It was a fabulous show! Man supported by Audience. In 2005.

It was one of Micky Jones's last UK shows, possibly his last London shows.

I became a total fan after that show - the heroism and grit and delight in playing (Micky's son George Jones was the other guitar player) from the stage and the love, sympathy, and respect from the crowd were overwhelming. (well, they shouted 'Bananas' and smoked dope, but in a sympathetic and respectful manner).

Deke Leonard's books about his time in Man and his time in rock performing are simply essential. Despite some sexism pertaining to his era riddled throughout the oeuvre (old Deke had no qualms about making liberal use of working girls, and sometimes bartering and short-changing them for a laugh :( ).

By coincidence, I saw Lynynrd Skynyrd not long (well, four months) before the plane crash in 1977, on the same tour that ended so tragically.

It was my first live rock show ever.
"Nothing would count as a fulfilment in a world in which literally nothing is important but self-fulfilment."
