Obviously.
I mean, I don't see a taco truck anywhere in that photo.

The drive through the Permian Basin was grisly. Fucking hell, oil drilling everywhere with their nasty black woodpecker heads going up and down as far as the eye could see. I wondered how much I would have to be paid to live out in one of those worker's quarters for just a month, in the stove top heat with only the communal food hall to look forward to and spunk stiff sheets.
Coincidentally, just before I read this, I photographed a photograph of a Californian oil field for an upcoming auction. Grisly is right...
It looks like parasites feeding on a carcass, which as a human activity it is.

I’m enjoying a local choclatier’s version of a malted milk chocolate he calls sea foam. Covered in dark chocolate, it is divine. His bark made with blueberries is great too. Who am i kidding? All of his stuff is excellent. He uses Belgian chocolate exclusively and most of it is either 72% or 86%. He makes truffles of course and other involved pieces but I really like his bark which allows the chocolate to sing or his toffee which is simply decadent.

I’m going to have a go at making banana bread today. I’ve never made it before, so this should be a good laugh.

We hit 108 yesterday and in a few days they are predicting 112. If so it will be close to the record for all time at 114F. It was everything I could do to get my ass to the farmer’s market this morning but I made it. While there it rained for a few minutes, yes minutes. Unheard of for this p,ace in the summer. It was just enough to spot up the car and make it humid. I may have to open a bottle of wine well before dinner and salute modern air conditioning.

Yeah. I'm too hot to drink, even. Which is about as serious as it gets.

They are building new houses in our area. I'm a bit fed up with the pile driving which starts at 8am every morning.

I understand your fed up ness.
The house next door has been doing some major work, knocking walls down, drilling up concrete floors, extending here there and everywhere since Feb, all the way through lock down when we couldn’t get out to escape the bedlam.
It’ll all be over soon
Give a shit or be a shit.

Re: MORE random stuff about your day
Went out to the car this morning and found a fine coating of dust covering it but upon closer inspection noticed it was ash. We have a fire about 35 miles west of Sacramento on top of many others farther away. We are not in any real danger other than it makes the air unhealthy to breathe. With another 100 F day I wasn’t planning on being outside anyway other than going to the grocery store. I now have ice cream so that will help.

The farmer I buy my Chinese long beans from told me today that they wash their cash at home and keep the dirty money they take in separate and give back clean money to their customers. He laughed about it being laundered money.
