Clannad

Postby C » 08 Jul 2020, 21:31

I played Macalla today - a very fine album. Bono guests on one track.

Transition from the wispy new age sound of say Robin Hood/Harry's Game to the more folk-rock sound developed later

I saw them live a couple of times and have half a dozen or so of their albums

Any love?

Sorry C.

Think I might have one album of theirs somewhere, not sure if I've ever played it - one of those very cheap boot fair albums, or perhaps it was an album by Enya! Probably seemed like a good idea at the time.

Crumbs just checked, I have got one of their albums, something called 'Past Present' no idea if I've ever heard it, if I have it didn't strike a chord. I also have an album by Enya!

A compilation from1989 Rob

As they morphed slightly I am not sure that type of collection would flow very well

I have that one. It’s ok.

Saw them live about 20 years ago. They were incredibly boring.

So not much love.

I have Magical Ring, the one with Harry's Game on it. I think it's a fine album. I think I have another one, a compilation probably

I saw them live a couple of time. I enjoyed the shows.

They are certainly talented but perhaps a little too 'new age' for some many

I love this:

I have some of their albums, picked up cheap secondhand on vinyl, they're great, tempted to get more and a decent best of, have that 80s one somewhere on cassette.

Often used to watch the end of Robin Hood when repeated (ITV4?,) just to hear that song. Its wonderous, even the song with Bono is decent, his vocals a little over the top. They deserve more attention, BBC4 documentary or the like.
