Coronavirus Concerts

Postby BARON CORNY DOG » 21 Mar 2020, 13:07

Now that most of us are on some variety of lockdown, howzabout a thread for links to performances you can tune into from home?

And, if you are able, to possibly throw some money at the artists whose livelihood has been shut down by the shut down.

Perhaps it'll help the creeping cabin fever.

It is our tradition to party with the Waco Brothers at this time of year. Bloodshot streamed three of them live and mostly unplugged yesterday and it was great fun. But you probably have to go to Bloodshot's FB page for it.

Neil Young is doing "Fireside Sessions" on his page. I'm pretty sure he's making these free to non-subscribers, but if you're a fan it's probably worth subscribing to the archives anyway.

Not exactly the same thing, but we've cranked out another internet radio thing. And will probably do a few more in the coming month, assuming good health and whatnot.

This is great, keep sharing sharing these.
I really worry about some of the artists i love. Already a couple of weeks ago someone I follow was pleading for funds as she was stranded in Germany during a tour that was cancelled, and she'd spent all of the tour earnings on getting her band home with nothing left for herself. Anna von Hausswolf sent a note out recently asking for people to look at her merch site.

Bruce S is apparently streaming the whole of the London Calling Hyde Park concert he released a DVD a few years back on YouTube and presumably his own website. Great show if you've not seen it, btw

This was so wonderful. I didn't know half the artists and it didn't matter. There they were in their pyjamas playing their tunes and cheering me up. Faith in humanity restored for 3 hours.

I'm not going to lie, there's a good few songs I don't recognise there, but RT said he will be doing more. This could turn into something special.

Neil Young has the "Trunk Show," directed by Jonathan Demme, running on NYA today. It was that was released for a hot minute in 2009 and then disappeared. Rick Rosas and Ben Keith are in the band. I'm halfway through it and there's already one or two epic electric blowouts, mixed with acoustic selections.

Yeah the Trunk Show movie is terrific! And I think it is the only one of the Demme films that is unreleased on home video, only streamed on NYA a few times. I have Heart of Gold on DVD and it is often streamed. The one from his solo electric tour, doing Le Noise songs, I believe I saw on a cable network so it must have a DVD release.

Neil has also recorded a number of Fireside Sessions where he plays old songs for Daryl Hannah's camera, those have been enjoyable & featured some songs he doesn't often do.
