Besides the Springsteen album, my own favourite album from 2019 was a little crowd funded album by Anoushka Lucas called "Dark Soul". The best track was "Grace Jones" which I feature here.... it's a sweet hip hop/jazzy piece for the first 2 minutes or so but then it explodes into a really gorgeous final three minutes or so. Give it a try, you oldies....

Fair play to you for taking a chance.... it's great, isn't it? The whole album is really fine - not all in that mode, so she's not a one-trick-pony, but you can feel her jazz/soul roots throughout.

A game of two halves:
Firstly, a very nice voice with delightful sparse piano penetrated with a few heavy organ chords.
Then into the 'choral effect' with the band freaking out in the background.
Awesome tubs!
Thanks for posting DD

Phew.
Thank goodness I ignored your advice that this would only appeal to oldies.
Very good - so good that I went to Youtube to hear some more - there are a couple of BBC Music Introducing videos that present her very well. She reminds me of Amy Winehouse more than anyone else, an influence readily acknowledged on her website. Would like to see her live.

Excellent! I shall add it to my best of 2019 list forthwith.
Bugger off.
