I always wondered who was playing drums on that Cheryl Ladd song.
Question authority.

And who could match his work with the Lettermen?

Top drummer, him and Carl on bass, top class rhythm section. Won't ever be released.

Also wrote the second (piano onward) part of Layla - although Rita Coolidge disputes his credit.

His Grammy Following the song’s appearance on Eric Clapton Unplugged was apparently delivered to him in prison.

Sad what happened to him (and his mum). Guess the drugs must have trip-wired the madness in him.

This story made the rounds several years ago and is worth revisiting. And don't miss Andy Newmark's testimony in the comments section!

Must read. I cried a little. Who knew about making music in prison? The long jams from the Layla session might be some of the best music ever recorded.
Question authority.

I saw Derek and the Dominos on the first leg of their first tour in 1970.

Dagenham Roundhouse a small venue 200 people max.

I was 10 feet from Jim's tubs and 5 from Carl's bass

Now that is impressive. Small gig, early before album recorded. Superb.

A robust rhythm section, most impressive.
