BCB - Best album of 2019
I'll leave this up to you guys for I believe this to be the worst year in music since 1736.

Re: BCB - Best album of 2019
I wouldn't know where to start for this year, not stating that as a grand gesture but still investigating 38 years pre 2000. I think I bought a couple from this year but for the life of me, without searching through my collection, I can't remember what they were.
Certainly bought some from already long established artists/bands and one or two from newer artists/bands but they don't roll off the top of my head easily. I'll come back to this later if I remember - they would have appeared somewhere on 'Vinyl Now Playing' anyway.

1) Vampire Weekend : " Father of the bride". Sprawling epic, articulate, melodic, joyous. 2) Cage the elephant "Social Clues". Just a great rock record. 3) Of monsters and men "Fever Dream ". A magical pop record. I'm just a sucker for Icelandic accents.

Lizzo’s ‘Cuz I Love You’ and Mekons ‘Deserted’ for me.
You come at the Queen, you best not miss.

The Purple Mountains and Brittany Howard ones are great. For mostly sentimental reasons (but I also do think they're good), the Nilsson and Cohen posthumous ones are pretty high in my estimation too.
Other than that, lots of good, but not a lot that's particularly special.

Re: BCB - Best album of 2019
I've been curious about the Britney Howard album. I don't buy much music these days* except the occassional used lp but I did buy two new cds this year so I'll nominate both.
Buddy & Julie Miller - Breakdown On 20th Ave South
A Winged Victory For The Sullen - The Undivided Five
I've played the hell out of the B&J Miller album since getting it upon release. The Undivided Five hasn't been out as long but I'm really enjoying it too.
*full disclosure, I did buy several cds at Waterloo in Austin back in October but they were things less easily found in my neighborhood.

Is the correct answer.
This is the only other album from this year I've spent any time with :

Most definitely ‘Deserted’ by The Mekons, followed somewhere down the line by the Bruce Springsteen one.

1. Amyl and the Sniffers
2. Fontaines DC
3. W H Lung
4. Lankum
5. Either the Mekons or the Springsteen. Or the Costello.
Best re-issue; The Steve Wilson mixes of the Dukes of the Stratosphere

Re: BCB - Best album of 2019
I really don't have much from 2019 at all so far:
LINGUA IGNOTA - Caligula
Moor Mother - Analog Fluids of Sonic Black Holes
Holly Herndon - PROTO
Swans - Leaving Meaning
One thing's for certain though, the female of the species seem to be advancing the artform much more than the male. Those first 2 albums in particular are essential.

Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.
