I was surprised to find the soup recipe in an Italian soup book (Zuppa!). I'm going to use some jowel bacon in the soup phase and add some Tokyo turnips with the greens at the end to add some more veg to the pot. Carrot and celery didn't seem to be enough.
Blackeyed peas are lucky if eaten as the first meal of the new year. Save some of your soup for then, it sounds wonderful. Again, I am jealous and a lazy cook to boot.
