A is a nice deeper dig into the first folk revival revival - he opened for Phil Ochs at a legendarily alcohol-soaked Ochs appearance. Nice Townes-ish kinda vibe that makes me want to hear more of what he's about.
B is one of those folk supergroups that are all the rage, talented people doing a lovely song. Not hearing much "why," I'm afraid.

I know very little about Sammy except the Ochs connection - I enjoyed the track very much.
My fave so far this final.
The Gloaming did very little for me - I can think of others that do this sort of thing better. Clannad came to mind
I lost interest but it piqued again in the last 40 seconds but, sadly, it was to late by then
So A has it
A has it

A seems very much in thrall to Dylan again, though there's probably a bit of Springsteen about the pomp of the production. Not very folky really, all that piano, the overblown arrangement, it's trying to be a sweeping country-rock ballad. Aiming for widescreen epicness, and it comes across as a bit crappy because of it, hides any quality the song may once have contained.
And B suffers from the exact same thing, it's been Jim Steinmanned. Sorry, can't vote for either of these.

Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

A had an easy going charm with nice guitar and piano accompaniment.
B was fine enough but did get a little dull over its length and, as C mentioned, a band such as Clannad do this kind of thing much better.

The Sammy Walker track was a real journey: Starts off sounding like a wannabee Dylan, but the teeth gratingly bad doggerel soon puts paid to that.
Then the story of the song kind of sucked me in, despite being a bit shmaltzy.
And then... the song ends on a bummer. It either a} needs a final verse (does the kid become a drug addict? Open a Dogs home? Track down who killed the dog and torture him to death? What?); or b) Not be so jolly.
I'm a big fan of The Gloaming, in fact they nearly made my list. Lovely vocals and excellent playing.

I can anly assume A has some votes because people were so busy vomiting they didn't listen to B.

Sadly, neither did much for me, disliked The Gloaming a little less than Sammy Walker.

A bit underwhlemed by both, but B sounds too "sweet" to me.

He gets an axe and systematically hunts down all the fuckers who voted against him.
