I just finished watching A Face In The Crowd - an old favorite, but it was my first time seeing it since, oh, well before 2016.

Holy cats, did Kazan and Schulberg see Trump coming from a half-century away or what?

well, yes & no.
yes in that people are all too willing to fall for that "he's a man of the people / he's speaking my language" shit.
no because, well, TRUMP isn't all alone in his luxury apartment with his clapping machine. He's had a hat-full of potential "Lonseome Rhoades Moments" but he keeps on ticking.

I got depressed watching it. I think the "scales falling from people's eyes" montage sets it firmly in the past. nowadays those scales are glued on pretty good.

Excellent picture. I haven't seen it in quite a while myself, but yeah the parallels are undeniable.

I've given up on waiting for Trump to have his "Lonesome Rhodes" moment though.

But the Roger Stone trial is underway, with Steve Bannon, Rick Gates and Randy Credico set to testify. Will they perjure themselves to defend Stone, or tell the truth and throw him overboard?

my fondest wish for that and the Impeachment hearings is that it cause the tiniest little crack in the smooth surface of the deranged faithful.
little tiny cracks don't look like much but they usually lead to other problems --hopefully big problems.

It is a lot to hope for but I agree. I have been waiting for the moment that they all turn on him and it hasn't happened. But now that they are in real true legal proceedings, not the court of public opinion, there's a chance that minds get blown when it doesn't go their way repeatedly.

Keep up. I'm joking. "The walls are closing in," is a take off on all those videos where Rachael Maddow and a host of other pundits were promising "bombshells," "walls closing in" other sorts of doom for Trump during the stupid wasted two years of Russiagate. The Dems didn't get him then and they're not going to get him now.

AND DON'T ASSUME I LIKE TRUMP. The Dems are so hamfisted, using this Ukraine instance as the impeachable offense when Biden, the supposed wronged party, comes off as more corrupt than Trump, the supposed perpetrator, then I suggest trying Trump on another of many, many other prosecutable offenses. But noooo.... They are just making Trump seem more like a victim and more electable.

If only Hillary would come back in the race. You'd like that wouldn't you?

Those of us who've been hoping for Republicans to ditch Trump might want to read this sobering article.

Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

Voter turnout in swing states seems more and more like the only remedy. Shouldn't be that way but it might be so.

I stated my preferred option was Warren much earlier in the year - nothing has made me change my mind, thank you.

Nah, I'm just trying to get you to see reality. Are you aware that Warren has been caught lying in other instances like once about how she had said she was fired from a teaching gig for being a pregnant woman while on another video tape she says she quit on her own because she was pregnant. If I know this Trump knows it, too, and will use it mercilessly.

And, of course, Trump hasn't lied which is why he isn't facing impeachment?

"Sorry, Boss, I was too busy HATE WATCHING Devin Nunes"

Republicans wasted not time at all going partisan. Seems like weak tea after Schiff's high-concept opener.
