Re: MORE random stuff about your day
Typical have an uneventful drive home it's only 15 miles. However, tonight there was a little traffic and some blowhard decides to cut me off but they are so bad at weaving thru traffic that I kept passing them so they ended up cutting me off not once but 3 times. I gave them the finger and they were laughing at me. Oddly they got off at my exit and ended up in the same supermarket parking lot as me. They are so lucky they didn't get the 10 year ago me, their car would have been keyed. They did have a red sox sticker on the back so I ripped a piece off.

Re: MORE random stuff about your day
I went down to the cider house last night for my first karaoke performance. It's a new event started after I left on our trip so my first opportunity. It was a blast! One of the women was trying to get a friend to come down for it and he was resisting until she sent a video of me singing China Girl. He showed up soon after and did a really good version of an Elton John song I didn't know. I was really impressed as it was very "wordy." I opened with Gram Parson's Sin City (following a young woman's modern pop song I couldn't name with a gun to my head). Later it was Bowie's song and I finished the night with Highway To Hell. I will definitely be back next week and I might even practice a song though it seems more fun to just do them off the cuff. My first choice was Velevet Guitar by Alejandro Escovedo but the YT version of karaoke they are using didn't have it. Besides it seems one gets a better response if the crowd knows the song. It's hard being hip.

Halloween decorations are down and put away. I usually keep them up for All Saints Day but it's very windy, even the pillows on our balcony porch swing were being blown about last night.

Another fantastic party at our friend's house with lots of great food, libations and music. She always has one of the top djs in town running the dance program. We danced for hours with little rest and left the party totally exhausted but happy. Maybe now I can recuperate from the trip.....
I'm organizing a slide show of our trip at Two Rivers Cider with the owner for next week. Hopefully it won't be too boring.

The weather is PERFECT at the minute. Christ, if it could be like this all year. We decided to do the hour and a half walk to one of our favourite eating spots and it was rammed at 9am. The motor racing is on at the minute so the place was full of out of town wankers talking shite. There was an hour long wait for food so we sat in the splendid sunshine and read and watched dogs. We walked away from the place in our chunky jumpers, coffees in hand like proper Autumn wankers.

Bonfire night tonight and Baron has cooked one of his legendary pies. We've got baked beans and a gallon of mushy peas waiting to get heated up, and piles of garlic bread. Got cider, Kriek Lambic, red wine, and piles of wood gathered up from the yard and local parks. And before all this, for the first time in the US, I VOTE!

Sounds like quite a night.
I'm having a good friend over for dinner tonight and will force him to look at my vacation pictures afterwards.

One of our cats, carried down from the third floor, our missing cat's favorite toy. Maybe it's a sign that Possum the cat will soon be home. Fingers crossed and prayers said.
Some sun this morning too.

Last night we had our usual secret jam session after trivia at Two Rivers, my first since I got back from my trip. It was good playing with my friends again. They started pulling out their instruments before the last set of ten questions even finished.

Re: MORE random stuff about your day
Spent a good part of the day raking leaves. Every time I went outside, there were more on the lawn and sidewalk. I think that the worse is over, I cleaned out the gutters on the balcony level but will get service to come when all the leaves have left the trees and do the entire house.
I also cut my (cat)mint and brought it inside to dry. All three cats (except the missing cat, Possum, who is still missing) started to chew and rub in the mint. One cat started racing around the house, tossing her toys in the air, her fur even smells of the mint.

My wife and I were watching a Stevie Ray Vaughan doc on TV when the Allman Brothers were mentioned as an influence. It was then I wondered and I asked my wife how Duane Allman had died and without any hesitation she said, "He dwowned."

Re: MORE random stuff about your day
Also today ... The English school where I work is located on the second floor just above this tiny mom and pop rice ball, bento and tempura to-go shop. I am hi-bye friendly with the "pop" and from time to time he slips me a freebie bag of unsold fried stuff and it's always delicious. Today, to show my appreciation, I bought for him an "o-kaeshi", a token thank you gift, a vitamin C rich squeeze jelly pack. He accepted my gift with a nice smile. Anyway, a few hours later I had a break between students so went down to buy a rice ball, paid 130 yen, and as another kindness he included a free piece of fried chicken. I took my rice ball and chicken upstairs and took a couple of bites of the rice ball when my boss passed by and asked what "that" was. "That" was a hair, a stiff hair, poking out from the rice ball. My boss slid it out and said it was probably a cat hair because some cats hang around the shop. This, he said, may be the fifth time my he'd spotted or heard a complaint about hair in the food. I spit out what was left in my mouth and my boss went downstairs to complain. He soon came back and reported back to me that when he said he'd found a cat hair - while brandishing the hair - the daughter said it wasn't a cat hair. It was a dog hair. I felt bad for how was I to eat their food again? A minute later "pop" came up to the school, bowed, apologized and returned my 130 yen. My stomach has been queasy since.
Question authority.

Re: MORE random stuff about your day
At last night's show two women sat behind us who as the night went on, talked between themselves quietly but loudly enough to get on my fucking tits during the song's quiet bits. I thought a couple of times about turning round and telling them to shut up, but something I couldn't put a finger on stopped me from causing a scene in this very small venue. My instincts were correct and as we left, I watched this woman and her friend stagger across the road screaming "MOTHERFUCKER" at cars that had the audacity to be driving at a normal speed along the road as they merrily jaywalked.
