Sounds pretty froo-froo to me.

Last night at the Cowgirl Bar B Que we had lamb sliders with our outstanding salads. Delicious.

I miss New York diners ... sandwich wise .. I love the number 1 club sandwich of turkey, bacon, lettuce and tomato and the number 4 club sandwich of chicken salad, bacon, lettuce and tomato .. These sandwiches were great to share as they are too much for me to eat.

Open turkey or roast beef sandwiches. Yes, knife and fork is required but they're still sandwiches.

Love the open sandwiches with lots of gravy over the fries. :)

They know food, but somehow a reasonably proportioned sandwich is beyond their capacity.

not in the alps. Lived on tomato, cheese, meat, mustard Baguette sandwiches as we hiked around the French Alps. Baguettes were bigger than small boys.

^^^ Yum!

I guess there's a distinction to be made between "Alpine" and "French."\

(btw, I lived in the Belmont section of the Bronx for quite a while and the Italian Combo you described on the last page is pretty much my Platonic ideal of a sandwich.)

We had a couple of local Italian restaurants that made the best meatball parm heroes. Sadly, both are long gone.

yes my favorite italian place was in Pelham section of the Bronx. It was a little hole in the wall but knew it was the place when I went there one afternoon and saw all these pudgy italian woman standing in line. Place was a trip all the workers were comedians joking and screaming at each other it was quite a scene.

With Yankees in the playoffs reminds me of another favorite that I got outside the stadium. The Cuban sandwich

Now I'm craving a Cuban ... sandwich. It looks great. Unfortunately, I'll have to settle for a tuna on mulitgrain bread today. Such is life ... ;)

I just had peameal bacon on a sourdough bun from Carousel Bakery in St. Lawrence Market. If you're a carnivore and happen to find yourself in Toronto, it doesn't really get much better.

Comics trivia:

The Dagwood sandwich. Raid the fridge after midnight and load that damn thing. You must have on pajamas, housecoat, and slippers, otherwise it's not really a Dagwood sandwich.

Love the idea of eating a sandwich at night. If the feeling is too powerful I settle for a bowl of granola. But I could easily eat one of those Cuban sandwiches at 11 pm any night.

If only Taco Bell's food actually looked anything like that, or tasted like that image suggests it does.

Their "beef" is just some kind of tasteless slurry.

Needs to do better if it wants my business.

I haven't had Taco Bell for years and was in a hurry when I made the mistake of posting the "kit" for the "real" thing. I loved the fact that you could go to the drive-in at 3 A.M .... to be truthful, I did like the double decker taco but not as much as the "7 Layer Burrito" .. no meat in the burrito.

This morning, I am craving a double double from In-N-Out Burger .. too far to drive. Oh well .. :D
