Starless is a beautiful track - I love it but it has been used umpteen times and it is far, far, far, far, far, far too obvious a choice.
The Kraftwerk selection is a corker
'Human' Kraftwerk - basically NEU! with Ralf Hütter I think
An inspired track selection
ROBUST STUFF!

Re: Prog Cup 2019 Semi-Final Match 3
I tend to like early Kraftwerk, when they were closer to an ordinary rock band figuring it out as they went along. But there's really not enough happening in A to hold my attention.
B has some thrilling bits and some dull ones, as well as a passage around the 9-minute mark that made me think my man Verlaine must have at least listened to some Crimson. It may be obvious, but not to me as I've gone happily Crimson-free for most of my life. Now I can graze happily at the buffet without stuffing myself.

Re: Prog Cup 2019 Semi-Final Match 3
“Starless” is one of the greatest progressive rock songs in history, off one of the greatest albums in history, and outclasses A here and possibly any track in the cup thus far. That said, it’s far too obvious of a choice and is clearly asking for easy votes here. Meanwhile, A is a pretty daring Kraftwerk pick considering it would’ve been tempting to pick their more synthpop based tracks. It's still Kraftwerk but less obvious. A it is.

I really don't want to vote for such an obvious pick as Starless but A was disappointing and somewhat tuneless and aimless.

Re: Prog Cup 2019 Semi-Final Match 3
Kraftwerk playing proper instruments was quite refreshing but it didn’t really do much.
I’m not a KC fan, their stuff is just too hit and miss, and often cacophonous. But when it works it’s pretty damn good.
I guess I’ve only ever heard Starless a double handful of times (max) so am certainly not going to turn it down because to others it’s an obvious pick. Certainly one of the hits for me.

While the Kraftwerk was enjoyable, I'm a relative neophyte regarding King Crimson & it's an absolute corker. Another one for the smorgasbord!

Two more gems.
A- Love the instrument version of Kraftwerk. Seen this before. Great gem from the early days.
B- classic prog King Crimson. I'm a huge fan of KC and while I don't consider this their best like others its a top piece.
hard decision
I'll be back

"Starless" shows up every year, innit. It's wonderful of course, but.....

Too obvious, lazy pick, etc. etc. etc.
but come on... early Kraftwerk can't possibly win this.

Re: Prog Cup 2019 Semi-Final Match 3
I’ve never heard early Kraftwerk before, it sounds very like Popol Vuh, which can only be a good thing. A bold choice.
I’ve seen KC twice, once on the Discipline tour and much more recently with their three drummers. But as they are generally short on tunes and often employ sub standard singers I’m not much of a fan. This is one of their best tracks. If a little obvious.
