Yes.

It did not sell out so tickets were released very cheap. I could easily afford several bites of the 50th anniversary cherry.

Here's a tale: when I was sent to boarding school in Canterbury, my best friend was into punk, over which we bonded. We hated the Canterbury bands with a passion.

25 years later he did an about turn, having moved from London to Canterbury. We binged on the band's music, and took wives and girlfriends to see the band headline at the Marlowe Theatre at the Canterbury Festival.

An emotional evening!

I recall someone (me, most likely) making several ill-advised comments regarding the groupies on offer that evening - many in their advancing years...
