The Fox And Goose, a British style pub in town I have frequented many times since arrivng here in 1985 is an homage to the Fox And Goose in Hebden Bridge where the co-owner is from.

The Fox and Goose is ace, the UK one that is. Scene of many a jolly. I’ve been going there since I was about 15 and I’ve been shitted up in there more times than I care to remember. Happy memories!

You could do worse.
Unless you need the toilet, of course.

I learned about the existence of the King Ranch in Texas after I photographed a 1968 16-year old Glenfiddich which had been bottled exclusively for said ranch.

Yes, it is legendary (at least in Texas).

One of my best friends comes from a family that owned a ranch that abuts the King Ranch (and may have once been a part of it). He was living off the natural gas royalties from his tiny piece for a good decade or two. When I was in law school I took oil & gas (law) just in case so I could be his consigliere if he hit it big.

Re: Post something you've learnt today
When you see a "Glebe Road" or "Glebe View" etc as a road name , it is land that used to be owed by the church to provide income for the clergy of the parish (via tithes etc). This land has gradually been sold off as the proceeds (since 1976) now go the church in general, not the local clergy. As it tends to be situated in areas that have development planning already agreed, the land is generally very coveted and, therefore, expensive.

I didn’t know this. I had read that is was a Scottish word for a large area of garden/park land. I didn’t think the word existed outside of Scotland.

Anthony Quinn studied architecture under Frank Lloyd Wright. During his apprenticeship, he was offered a steady salaried acting gig with one of the Hollywood studios, and asked Wright for advice. When Wright found out how much Quinn would be earning as an actor, he encouraged Quinn to give up architecture for acting.
