I always tell myself I've got enough live albums by him to keep me going for years, but then another comes along and .....Do I really need another live version of ......(fill in the blanks), but I usually relent and feel quite self satisfied. So, don't be surprised if it finds it's way into my collection.

Nice addition to every good Neil collection, but would still rather have had the Hammersmith/Budokan 76 set that this release apparently bumped in the schedule

Well as somebody who collects Neil bootlegs, I am really happy with this release.

There has never been a good quality document of this tour, except for the Time Fades Away album itself, which was of course all new songs. So it is a treat for me to hear this band play the Harvest stuff live. Neil was mad at them for various reasons, but it's hard for an outside observer to know why. They sound SOOOOO GOOD, just luminous. Really sparse and subtle and perfect, like the album itself. And when the energy ramps up on Time Fades Away, New Mama and Lookout Joe, they sound good and rowdy.

If anything, Neil is the one that needs his pay check docked. He's a little drunk and missing some notes, it's not his most delicate performance on record. But his lead guitar playing is spectacular. It's rare for him to be the only guitarist in his own band. And if you think about it, guitar-hero Neil went away for a couple years, there are almost no heroic solos on any of the Ditch Trilogy albums, and he's not doing the songs with big guitar features in the set. But he let's it fly in small bursts, and it's just great. The version of TFA in particular, is way more off-the-rails than the one that made the album.

I give it a big thumbs up.

FYI, Odeon/ Budokan is sure to be great too but it's already available in pretty decent fidelity, or something close to it.

yowza. it's so weird hearing all that authentic, professional, country musicianship with Neil laying down his big, fat slabs of guitar on top. the playing and the sound quality are striking.
