What was the first CD you ever bought? And which year?
1990. Goodbye to vinyl and cassettes. Bought "Brian Wilson" AKA "Brian Wilson '88". Second hand, of course. It had some gunk on the case, which I tried to remove, but I ended up scratching the case. I had not heard of replacement cases, and I couldn't live with a scratched case, so I sold the CD and bought another clean copy. This was Brian's first solo album, and I loved it. I still think it his best solo work. Especially the epic "Rio Grande", which harkens back to the SMiLE period.

I think the year would have been 1987/88 - not quite sure. There was a CD shop on Leather Lane market in London which I used to frequent and finally gave in and added a CD player to my system and then bought these 2. There wasn't a lot of selection back then but I remember being blown away at the sound quality of the Hendrix album, but like everything, I soon got used to it and the initial excitement wore off.

Dunno. I know I got a CD player relatively late, 1995 or 96. I know I wanted it specifically because X Records in Bolton had a lot of Legendary Pink Dots CDs.

Hymns to the Silence - Van Morrison. 1991. On my birthday, a few days after it came out.
It was a double CD back when double CDs came in gigantic plastic cases and cost a fortune. I bought it in Our Price and imagine that I paid around £20 for it.

very early when there was no choice at all except in the classical music.
so my first cd's were Queen, Dire Straits and the Carpenters. Still have them. They still play OK.

You need to read "Codependent No More", or some other self-help books. You are not well. You miss me too much. Even your slights are getting slighter.

Bought my first CD player when I came to Japan in 89, a boom box with twin tape decks and a radio. CD rental was (is?) a thing and so buying CDs was unnecessary until I realized the Grateful Dead selection here was a bit thin so I broke down and bought One From The Vault at Tower.
Question authority.

What a strange, stalky, spiteful chap you are turning out to be John. What on earth happened to you? Wind your neck in. This is dull as fuck.
You come at the Queen, you best not miss.

I have no memory of my first CD at all! Not sure why. Can’t even remember my first CD player.

At any rate you're getting more attention than you do over here!
What wasn't very good, the Puddu Varano? You mean to tell me you went to the trouble of youtubing it? You are a walking contradiction. You hate everything I stand for, but will gladly sample it anyway. You start your own forum and on one of the first days you tell your acolytes, "And best of all, no GoogaMooga!" But then you come crawling back here, because you miss our little exchanges so much. Look, it's been nine years now, since I first joined. I get the message, you hate music, Slade has three or four good songs, Cliff Richard is a bell-end, etc. It's pathetic behavior and I am not the only one who is very bored of it. What do you expect me to do, change my taste? Or cower every time I spot one of your countless aliases?
About the Swedish comics forum: It died a long time ago, but I think it is subsidized so they keep it going as an archive. I just post there to plug stuff I like and to write my (almost) daily TV program, which has gotten over 700,000 views so far.

Trout Mask Replica, July 4 1990 at Rhino Records. My band played there and they allowed us to each pick a CD off the rack. It was almost two years later that I bought a player and my second CD, Clear Spot/ Spotlight Kid 2fer.
