You've missed the actual point. Carlsson doesn't actually like Prog, evidenced by his oft repreated claim that not one note of music released after 1974 has any merit. His so-called handful of decent bands since 74 is a deception, most of them are average or mediocre. I think he has a dysfunctional attitude to music, he instantly dismisses any music from outside of his comfort zone as "derivative claptrap" which show a ridiculous intolerance on his part. I found, to my cost, that he doesn't like music only noise.

The first time I heard prog mentioned would have been c. 1980-81, in high school, at a time when we were taping for each other. A Dutch classmate somehow sold me on ELP, and used as an argument, "progressive rock, yeah". Not once did I hear the abbreviation mentioned in high school. So I went out and bought a few LPs, ELP, King Crimson, Jethro Tull, but only "Aqualung" left me a bit in awe. The rest I soon tired of. I've never taken a virulent anti-prog stance, at least I hope not, and over the years I've caved in and gotten more Tull, then Strawbs, Camel, and a few other things.
