I'd say it's a safe bet that anyone already laying out their blame strategy is going nowhere near the nomination.

Safe bets are for pussies.

There s already talk from my side, the alternative side, that agrees with you but it isn't because voters are offended or put off by Tulsi's forthrightness or her naming names but because the establishment, the "deep state" will see to it she doesn't get near the debate stage let alone the nomination. Seeing how little air time or mentions she is getting on the MSM compared to darlings like Harris or Booker or Biden is early evidence if this. MSNBC is already calling her a Putin puppet. Her best strategy may be to play the victim because it's true. She is the victim, discriminated against by the establishment forces, the last election's sore losers. (Cough Davey.)

Definitely DON'T read this, Jimbo. It's just what the mainstream media want you to believe, with their well documented sourcing and actual reportage.

More nothing. No collusion, no Putin, no blackmail, no trolls, no stolen emails, nothing but a another smear job. Read the documents. The last dated email was June 14, 2016. The nomination was July 16, 2016. Close but no after nomination business.

The very end was pretty excellent. Whoever wrote the closing act of that speech deserves a raise. Too bad ol' Doofus Trump was delivering it.

my wife brought me home a little something because she knew I'd have watched it and she knew I'd be depressed.
It seems to me that maybe the reason he stopped the stupid, goddam government shutdown was so he could have the prime time TV coverage.
As far as I'm concerned TRUMP 2020 has officially begun.

Count Machuki wrote:The very end was pretty excellent. Whoever wrote the closing act of that speech deserves a raise. Too bad ol' Doofus Trump was delivering it.

but he WAS delivering it, Blanche. okay, yeah, it's hard to say "I don't like hearing calls for unity" but it's easy to say I don't believe a word of it.

I mean, calls for unity when an hour earlier he was slamming "partisan investigations" as being bad for the economy? his use of the word "socialism" was clearly meant to conflate the political disaster in Venezuela to factions within the Democratic party. unity my BALLS. He didn't even mention the damned shutdown but his language on his "wall" (if it's still a wall) makes it clear that he expects a "win" in this fight and he doesn't exactly exude an air of diplomatic flexibiltiy.

the whole speech made my brain hurt. he said we need to end foreign wars then sabre rattles Iran, brags of intervention & ending arms agreements. He threw ALL that red meat to the base about the rampaging hordes streaming over the border to kill us then...
makes a room full of Republicans stand up and cheer for...
curing Cancer in children! AIDS research! protecting people's insurance for preexisiting conditions!!! I could hear old white people all over America go "hmmmmm, maybe this guy ain't so bad after all" when the fact of the matter is that he's worse than ever.

saying you're for party unity is easy to SAY. Next time he does a jackass partisan thing and I gripe about it - I know exactly who is going to reprimand me for it. "but, you heard him! he SAID he was for party unity" I'm the bad guy. I must be a socialist. I must want evil women to tear their babies from their wombs minutes before they are born. All I'm saying is that this is not the language of Unity.

Things are going to get ugly, man. when I hear what sounds like chanting football hooligans at a State of the Union - it makes me uneasy.

Calls for unity, my ASS! A lot of what he said sounded lovely - more women in Congress than ever before! People serving time for non-violent drug offenses being released! The social safety net being protected! An end to pointless wars! - until you realize he's fought every last one of those things tooth-and-nail from the beginning - and now that he can't stop them, he's taking credit for them.

And the "USA! USA!" chants made me very queasy. I've seen "Triumph of the Will." Certain types of unity are very much the opposite of comforting.

I'm all for genuine unity, but you can't pat me on the back hard enough for me to not feel the knife.

I should be clear and say that I was only admiring the writing and rhetoric of the last bit of the SoU speech.

I AM SO PROGRESSIVE THAT I AM ALREADY PREPARING MY 2020 PROTEST VOTE FOR DONALD TRUMP

"Is it so much to ask for radical, sweeping, overnight change? I realize that several of the Democratic candidates are campaigning on free college and universal healthcare for all. But none of them are campaigning for free college and universal healthcare for all overnight. They’re suggesting strategies for working within the confines of Washington to produce gradual results over time. Um, sounds a little MODERATE to me, doesn’t it??"

sorry, didn't mean to sound like I was bitching at YOU. I came here all pissed off that "Unity" was the take away for so many people talking about the State of the Union Address. your post just seemed like a nice way to set up my gripe that was already ripe.

Ha ha. Davey would love this. But how come the satirist left Tulsi Gabbard off his list of "disappointing" Democratic candidates? I'm not claiming sour grapes (Boo hoo, he didn't include my gal Tulsi.) but it does indicate to me how clueless the writer is, how tuned he is into the moderate wing of the left. At least he included Bernie but Tulsi is the hottest, most exciting, most talked about and likeliest candidate to beat Trump. (Or Bernie. Or a pairing of the two.) That is if the Democratic Party allows them to run. But they probably won't. So yeah, a moderate candidate will probably get the nod, probably Harris, but I think this time more progressives will vote for the moderate no matter what the writer thinks. If it was "our" fault HRC lost and not the fault of Comey, the "Russians" or HRC herself then we'll probably ultimately vote for whomever the Dems choose.

While there was the pee pee tape, the Trump Tower meeting, Wikileaks, etc., all "evidence" of Trump colluding with the Russians, there were also the openly known facts that Bill Clinton had received $500,000 for a speech in Russia and that the Uranium One deal was mid-wived by HRC, but these actual events were forgotten, ignored or dismissed by the MSM and HRC supporters under the onslaught of incriminating anti-Trump reporting. Well Hillary supporters, theyre baaaack. This article is in The Hill and all over the alternative news sites.

The case for Russia collusion … against the Democrats
By John Solomon — 02/10/19

... As secretary of State, Hillary Clinton worked with Russian leaders, including Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and then-President Dmitri Medvedev, to create U.S. technology partnerships with Moscow’s version of Silicon Valley, a sprawling high-tech campus known as Skolkovo.

Clinton’s handprint was everywhere on the 2009-2010 project, the tip of a diplomatic spear to reboot U.S.-Russian relations after years of hostility prompted by Vladimir Putin’s military action against the former Soviet republic and now U.S. ally Georgia. ... https://thehill.com/opinion/white-house ... -democrats
