Not bad for a company that used to (and maybe still does) sell pink ladies' razors at a mark up over the blue equivalents they market to men.

Gillette won't give a shit about any controversy, as the ad has generated them worldwide publicity worth millions of dollars.

I have no problem with the message, or that it's ostensibly an ad for razors and I think people that get upset at this type of stuff give far too much importance to their place in the world. Personally, I don't use any Gillette products - not out of any sort of stance but because safety razors are a buck a blade, and you can't beat that!

Stopped shaving long ago, a quick trim every two-three weeks is enough. Saves me a lot of time, and mercifully, no nicks or cuts.

yeah, this "woke" advertising is lame but I don't get how it insults men. it shows men being DICKS. it insults DICKS. it's trying to sell razors to men who don't want to be DICKS.

it amazes me that Piers Morgan and other well known gasbags feel like they need to stand up for their right to be DICKS.

Not surprised some people see it as "anti-men", likely the same people who cry white genocide at the casting of non-white actors in Star Wars or something. There's nothing remotely "anti-men" here, it's merely challenging attitudes that are pervasive in certain sectors and which are pretty demonstrably toxic, to men themselves even. That said I pretty much agree with the rest here, it's very skin-deep and ostentatious social critique serving the function of selling more razors, fairly obnoxious even if I suppose it's a few steps above the utter mess that the likes of Pepsi have done in the past. For what it's worth it at least takes a side instead of using the trappings and iconography of social movements and revolution for no clear purpose beyond its brand.

I don't object to the message or support the people complaining "don't you tell me what to do, stupid razor libs!"

But this kind of woke ad campaign is somewhat bothersome for other reasons. I figure mist corporations act like Republicans where policy making is concerned. They want to remove consumer protection and employee protection and make a lot of money doing so. Is that a guy you want to have a beer with?
