Well, there's dumb dumb and there's fun dumb. Hanky Panky is really fun as is a lot of American bubblegum stuff.
To me really dumb is trying to be serious and just failing. Two prime examples:
A Horse With No Name (America)
In The Year 2525 (Zager & Evans)
Then I start thinking, why does dumb have to be us Europeans ridiculing Americans for their idiocy. Surely there must be some examples of European dumbness. And then it came to me:
The Final Countdown (Europe)

Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

The combination of Kiss and dumb seems almost inextricable....

What's dumb though, those are all east coast bands, why the reference to Hollywood?

I'm sure Gene and Paul have been debating the hypothetical marketability of a "Let's Put The X in Xmas" for decades now.

I can't remember what the raison d'etre for that comp was, and a quick Google sheds no light. It may be lost to the ages, possibly for the best. I can't even remember the song we contributed. "Screen?"
