also an occasional Beach Boy, etc.

It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.

I e-mailed him out of the blue about the bulldogs on the cover of their albums, and he answered all my questions and then some. Seemed like a nice person. As well as one hell of a musician obviously. RIP.

Sad. I genuinely, un-ironically like the big hit and his keyboard textures really helped out on some of those mid-70s Beach Boys records.
RIP

Re: RIP "The Captain:
"LWKUT" is a million dollar jam by any measure, and quite a few of their subsequent singles demonstrate a really advanced and unique (and, to my ears, still modern) understanding of sound and record making (big sounding tracks with a lot of space and a novel layout of sonic elements - moog bass and tack piano, no guitars hogging up the midrange).
At this point, he is probably (in our world, at least) judged accurately for his considerable talents.

What they said.
I wonder how much Brian Wilson may have been influenced by him. The BBs records of the "Brian's Back!" era - Love You in particular - seem, to my ears, to be built on what Dragon had done with (and maybe without) them.
R.I.P.
