Absolutely wonderful series.

If you've not caught it, you should really try.

Anyone here read the Elena Ferrente book(s) on which the series is based?

I'm almost finished the 4th book, and am planning on checking out the series afterward although I don't have HBO or whichever service it's showing on, so I'll have to find it, er, elsewhere.

It's all over HBO and I've thought about treading in.

Harv, you can probably get the HBO Go app on your tablet or such.

I'm not one of those militants that insist you must read the books before the TV series. But you just must read the books, whether you watch the TV series or not.

Will indeed be reading the books, the TV series is just ravishing to look at and wonderfully evocatively scripted. Didn't realise that EF is, like B Traven, a pseudonym and no one is quite sure who he/she is

Just finished the 4th book last night, so I'm going to start the series soon.

I have a hard time understanding why Ferrante would choose to write pseudonymously when the books are so good - her earlier novels are worth reading, too, but they lack the scope of the Neapolitan Novels - I mean, if I had written something like that, I'd want complete ownership over it. I wonder if she'll keep up the front forever now that her popularity is soaring.

Absurdly does not even feature in the Guardian's Top 50 shows of 2018.
