I’d love to know why anyone would claim Low invented electro pop when it is clearly not electro pop itself! Kraftwerk had already released Autobahn and Radioactivity and can lay a better claim to that title.

Didn't seem that way at the time. There was a lot of that kind of thing about on singles, which I was buying in industrial quantities at the time – I think the lo-fi sound was as much a function of the independent label scene itself, with bands going down the Desperate Bicycles shoestring route of recording and issuing material on their own imprints. While the Moxham brothers were deliberately minimalistic, they were basically adapting pre-existing pop forms to home-made synth , drum machine and bass backing to showcase Alison's voice and Stuart's songs, which to me, always had a delightful pop sensibility to them.
