But wait, a la Jimbo, is it a frame-up?

Those buffoons who were trying to take Mueller down with bogus #metoo allegations a couple of weeks ago appear to be taking credit for bringing about Avenatti's arrest.

there must be a reason that Roger Stone is trying to hang this Randy Credico guy. He gave NBC some texts which show they were discussing the wikileaks dump and it's effect on the Hillary campaign well before it happened.

maybe he knows something we don't? it seems like he usually does.

Well, I thought it was funny:

https://www.theguardian.com/music/2018/ ... album-tour

“I think right now, it’s worse than the 60s because the guy we’ve got to deal with is worse,” 77-year-old Crosby says, alluding to Trump. “He’s more unrestrainedly bad. He’s like a spoiled child who got into his dad’s office and is peeing on all of the papers saying, ‘Ha, I’ll show you.’”

I wouldn’t hire that guy to do the paperwork for a pet adoption.

Me neither.

I thought they were kidding when they said he was thinking about it.

Really? Seems to me that gauche TV lawyer is a perfect foil for gauche TV President.

I wouldn't vote for him, but I'm cheering him on wrt the Stormy Daniels case.

Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

Inasmuch as Trump/Avenatti's skirmishes are playing out on TV and in the court of public opinion rather than in an actual court, we don't need Oliver Wendell Holmes - we need a showboating, media-savvy personality to bait Trump into making mistakes and damaging admissions.

Avenatti's no white knight, but I reckon he's the man for the job.

well, at the very least he'll have to do until someone else comes along. Trump knows how to give the mainstream media shiny objects they can bat at for entire news cycles. So does that guy -- even now. I haven't seen the right wing talking heads so filled with glee since Alec Baldwin got in a fight over a parking spot.

I doubt they'll do it on Friday. Even Mueller must be aware of news cycles. Maybe he doesn't care, but it wouldn't make maximum impact.

Yeah, but I don't think he's in it for the headlines. The venue of his fight is actually a courthouse.

We shall see...

They were saying that Mueller has a habit of releasing indictments on Fridays. Tick tick tick.

I found this interesting but not particularly revealing. Why he's a Republican I don't know. He's critical of some of Trump's policies and gives the Dems credit for winning the House in the last election. He's not a liberal progressive but he isn't a Ted Cruz Republican and he certainly not a right-wing loonie. He favors higher taxes on the rich and complains about high college tuition sparked by rich foreign students who pay top dollar edging out in-state residents entitled to a subsidy. Hey, Bannon, Bernie's free college plan would solve that. Overall, IMO, Bannon is more a Davey-style nuts and bolts guy than firebrand.

A decision handed down by a New York judge over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend bolstered most of the key arguments in the state attorney general’s lawsuit against the Donald J. Trump Foundation.

Judge Saliann Scarpulla rejected the Trump Foundation’s motion to dismiss the suit in a Friday ruling. She affirmed that a sitting U.S. president can be sued for activities unrelated to his conduct in office. And she wrote that New York Attorney General Barbara Underwood’s allegations that President Trump used his personal charity to settle personal financial affairs and further his political career were “very serious.”

Scarpulla’s ruling was a green light allowing the case to proceed, exposing Trump to millions of dollars in potential penalties.
