Re: 'What's Up?' and the very worst songs ever
Getting back on topic I heard a snippet of this dreck today and it occurred to me that it must be the worst song ever.
Absolute garbage.
A number one hit in the USA!

Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

They're like the only British band to have a US #1 without even charting in the UK. It was a big song in Australia too, I was like 6 when it came out, and the floating arms in the clip freaked me the fuck out.

Yeah I don't mind it either, but I was going to wait until somebody else said it first

Freddie & The Dreamers is the one British Invasion band that no one will admit to liking now, for they are considered to be a total embarrassment. And yet their "Nightcap" album is going for big bucks as a CD reissue, and when you sit down and have an unguarded listen to a career comp, all sorts of surprises leap out of the speakers. Take for instance a B-side from '66, "Short Shorts", which was a cover of a song by Royal Teens. It is the Dreamers at their zaniest, most out there. Just completely idiotic, and yet you cannot help but warm to it in all its tautological glory, relish that cretinous, falsetto-like call-and-response: "Who's real crazy?" No wonder it became a concert staple for them.

I mean, it's trash, and the singer is about the biggest dick ever to hold a microphone, but I've heard a LOT worse.

Yeah I finally heard that stupid Prefab Sprout song mentioned in Polishgirl's sig and that's a million times worse than Escape Club, horrendous on every level.

Nah, that's a great tune, daft lyrics and all.

Wow, they're British?! I never knew that.
It's not that bad, Count A harmless bit of dumb fun, not close to 'What's Up' level.

It's dreadful and has the faint whiff of 'contractual obligation' record about it.

Yeah it’s garbage.
But this afternoon I heard 10 seconds of Bowie and Jagger doing Dancing In The Street before I could hit the switch-that-fucking-shit-off button so there is definitely worse stuff out there.

I'd rather listen to another ex-Cowboy, Walt Garrison, rap.
